306 Rallye Register

Welcome to the 306 rallye register!

The Peugeot 306 Rallye was produced as a special edition model and was built due to the success of the 106 Rallye before it. The Peugeot 106 Rallye was produced as a homologation special edition model and consequently only limited numbers were manufactured to satisfy international motorsport regulations, this wasn't the case with the 306 but it was still only made in limited numbers, 500 models were made for the UK market only making it very rare, available in Black (100) at extra cost, Cherry Red (200) and Bianca White (200). Despite being unveiled at the Turin Motor show in April 1998 it was never sold in any other countries like the 106 Rallye was. There was a 306 Rallye sold in Australia and some other places but this was based on the 306 2.0 16V XSi (even 5 door models were available) it was not based on the GTi-6 as the UK ones were.

It was quite clear from the development of the Rallye that Peugeot intended this car for the true driving enthusiast. Based on the fundamentals of the GTi-6, the stripped out Rallye weighs in 52kg lighter reducing the 0-60 time to 6.8secs. The electric windows, leather seats, front fog lights and some sound deadening were lost to save weight and bring the cost down. List price in 1998 was £15995 with the only options that were available were air-con and CD multi-changer.

The aim of the register is to trace all the Peugeot 306 Rallye models left in the UK, The 306 Rallye went on sale in October 1998 so the bulk of the Rallyes are nearing 10 years old, some of the early 'S' registered cars were used for press purposes etc most Rallyes were on a 'T', but there were also a few later registered Rallyes on 'V' and 'W' plates. In July 2007 according to the DVLA there were 455 still registered, either Taxed or SORNED. In years to come we may only have a few hundred Rallye models left so keeping track of what cars are left is an essential aim of the Register.
